Joel Embiid's basketball career - at least in the immediate future - might be in jeopardy.
The 76ers center has suffered a setback in the healing of his right foot, the team announced Saturday night. This news comes on the heels of the 7-footer missing the entire 2014-15 season after suffering a stress fracture in the navicular bone in his right foot last June.
General manager Sam Hinkie said in a statement that a recent CT scan, performed in Los Angeles, revealed less healing than anticipated at this point.
"Our priority remains providing Joel with every opportunity to ensure he has a long and successful NBA career," Hinkie said. "And as such, these findings cause us to pause and reassess his current activities. Together with Joel and his representatives, we will continue to consult with the experienced team of doctors who have been an integral part of his evaluation, while also engaging in dialogue with a broader set of experts and specialists."
As a result, Embiid's participation in next month's Rocky Mountain Revue and NBA summer league are in jeopardy. It is unknown how long the Cameroonian will be sidelined.
There is a chance this injury could hinder Embiid's career the way it has for other 7-footers. Like Embiid, Yao Ming suffered a stress fracture in the navicular bone, in 2008 and again in 2009. Yao eventually was forced to retire in 2011 because of the injury.
The news could influence the Sixers' plans in the June 25 NBA draft. The team was expected to target Ohio State point guard D'Angelo Russell with the third overall pick to pair with power forward Nerlens Noel and Embiid. Now, the team could go after a post player for insurance if Embiid is unable to play at a high level.
Latvia power forward Kristaps Porzingis and Duke center Jahlil Okafor could be good options if they are still available when the Sixers pick.

There may be a chance that Dario Saric will wear a 76ers uniform sooner than expected.
The Sixers are negotiating with Anadolu Efes of the Turkish Basketball League to bring the forward to the NBA next season, according to Eurobasket.com.
The Sixers acquired Saric's rights last year in the NBA draft. They traded their first-round pick, Elfrid Payton (10th overall), to the Orlando Magic for Saric, who was selected 12th, plus a 2017 top-11-protected pick and a 2015 second-rounder. Payton made the NBA's all-rookie team this season.
When the Sixers acquired Saric, it appeared that the 6-foot-10, 230-pounder would have to play at least two seasons in Turkey before joining the NBA team.
He signed a three-year contract to play for Efes days before he was drafted by the Magic. The Croatian forward has a player option for the third season.
Saric, 21, would have to have his contract bought out for him to leave after one season. He averaged 11.2 points and 6.5 rebounds this season.
According to reports, the Turkish team could demand about $2 million to release Saric from his contract this summer. However, the Sixers would be able to pay only $625,000 toward a buyout this summer under the NBA's collective bargaining agreement.

As estrelas nas laterais são legais, mas na cintura não ficaram boas não. E bem que podiam usar uma letra mais estilizada no segundo uniforme, mais ou menos como eram nos anos 2000, achei os dois muito parecidos.

Esses uniformes são imbatíveis, os mais bonitos que já vi na história da liga. Alias, saudades dessa época, em que a Adidas e a Champion fazia os uniformes da NBA, outro nível de qualidade desse lixo de Adidas.
Eu sempre achei esses uniformes hip-hop um lixo e que não combina em nada com a franquia. O time se chama 76ers por causa da independência americana em 1776, portanto tem que ter essas cores americanas, e foi assim desde que o Syracuse Nationals veio pra Philadelphia e mudou o nome pra 76ers em 1963. Até resolverem mudar pra agradar o Iverson
